We’re well on our way into 2018, and I’m sure you’re well and truly sick of hearing about New Years Resolutions. Not everyone loves them, and I totally get it… Although, I’ve come to discover that there’s one thing that everyone can work towards as the year continues to roll on in:
Being the best version of yourself.
Every single person has something to improve, something to work on and so-called “faults” to address. No one is perfect, but trying to be a kind, loving, generous person is the closest thing to it!
So, here are a few tips on how to be the best version of yourself that you possibly can…
It’s not a bad goal to work towards after all, right?!
Be a Good Listener –
Being a good listener is one of the most powerful gifts to have! So this year, I encourage you to do more listening than talking.
Give your whole attention, and not a slither less. No matter who it may be, try your best to give people the time of day that they deserve. Communication is key, and listening is a pretty vital part of the equation… It could be all that is needed in order to change someone’s life.
– Put Love First
Give love to the earth, to your family, to your friends, to the random people you encounter in the street and to the creatures we share this earth with. Put love before everything else, the world needs more of it!
Open your Mind –
Before you pass judgement, look at both sides of the story; think about potential situations – why certain circumstances may have occurred and don’t ever forget that your mind is there to be changed.
Always remember that growth is simply not possible without change. We humans have a whole lot to learn, and it’s up to us to embrace it!
– Compliment Strangers
In today’s world, it seems as though we only speak to strangers if it’s totally necessary. But imagine if we all took the time to say something nice to someone when it may not be expected… Even just to smile or have the kindness to say hello as you walk down the street. You never know, it might just brighten someone’s day!
Appreciate Diversity –
Welcome new cultures with an open heart; don’t confine yourself to one mentality or that there is only one way to live. Realise that there is so much beauty in diversity and that we have far more similarities than we do differences.
– Live in the Present
Put down your phone, take in the surroundings and appreciate the little things in life.
Life is not about social media, your online following or the number of likes on an Instagram post. Life is about the experiences you have, the amazing memories you make, the times of pure happiness and love, and the moments that will stay with you forever.
Don’t waste the good things in life with the things that will never really matter.
Give Back –
Possibly the most important of all…
Giving back is something that everyone can do – no matter whether that be with money, with kindness or with a helping hand. If you’re in a fortunate enough position to know the feeling of privilege, it’s pretty important to do your part in helping those who aren’t.
– Remember that Ignorance isn’t Bliss
In 2018, make it a priority to take in as much information as you possibly can. You may not necessarily agree with all that comes your way, but being aware is the most important thing! Be prepared to learn about the devastation that occurs around the world, educate yourself on as many topics as you can and remember that having knowledge is power – even if it disturbs you.
Ignorance is never bliss, I can assure you.
Stop Comparing –
There’s only one of you. No matter how hard you try, you will never be anyone else (cheesy I know). Embrace everything you’ve got and always be grateful to be living in a body that’s keeping your mind alive.
It’s a pretty special thing!
– Don’t be Selfless
Putting others first is a truly wonderful trait, but looking after yourself is just as important.
If you can’t love and care for yourself, how do you expect to love and care for others?
Believe in Yourself –
Believe you can, and you will! Without self-belief, success is simply an unreachable target.
Have faith in yourself… I believe in you, and you sure as hell should believe in yourself too!
Don’t worry! I’m working on all of this too. I’m one to openly admit that I’m veeeeeeery far from being the best version of myself, but in 2018 I want to try my best to become a person that I’m whole-heartedly proud of. You should too! Join me on the journey ♡
