I haven’t always been on the path I’m on now, and I guess you’re here to learn all about that, right?
Well at the end of high school, I studied special effects make-up at a well-known college in Melbourne. For the following 4 years, I worked as a cosmetician and freelance makeup artist and lived the traditional 9-5 lifestyle.
At the time, I loved it!
Wearing makeup was a huge confidence booster for me, so I thrived off of the idea that I could potentially help people obtain that same feeling through my work.
But in 2015, I went to India… And everything changed. I came home from that trip with a fire in my belly that I’d never experienced before. Everything that I had learnt in my life was challenged by this magical country, and I felt as though I had no other choice but to honour it.
This trip shocked me into a sudden realisation, and during the next 2 years I stopped eating meat, I totally changed my career path, I truly recognized my privilege, I started to disconnect from the 9-5 lifestyle, I began my journey of intersectional environmentalism, and I had a huge urge to do something more…
So I created Travel for Difference!
I sat down with my parents one day and said: “I want to start a blog”. And as I’m sure you can imagine, they were very confused… And so was I!
I had absolutely no idea how to make this idea turn into a reality, and I also had no idea if writing numerous blog posts every week was something that I actually wanted to do. But if you haven’t already gathered… It is!
In the years that I’ve had this blog, I’ve discovered so much about who I am and what I’m set out on this Earth to achieve. I’ve learnt that holistic sustainability is something that I’m deeply passionate about; connecting with all living beings (wildlife conservation is my driving force at the moment), reducing my waste, being mindful of my actions, using my privilege to dismantle systems and work towards justice are just a few of the things that I strive towards each and every day.
Now, instead of wanting to make people feel good about themselves by enhancing their physical appearance, I strive to make people feel good by putting experiences over possessions and compassion over comparison. By encouraging others to fight the good (and important) fight. To be intersectional and holistic in their activism, and to care for wilderness and wildlife, which ultimately, is caring for themselves.
“Plans to protect air and water, wilderness and wildlife, are in fact, plans to protect man” — Steward Udall
Basically, my life has done a total 180º.
I am constantly learning, evolving and moulding into the very best version of myself each and every day. I have absolutely no idea what my path is going to look like in the future, but for once in my life, I’m totally ok with that!
This blog is here so that you can follow along on my journey of self-discovery, and challenge yourself along the way. I want us to be able to grow together as conscious human beings and constantly learn from our mistakes.
I’m just a privileged Australian girl who is figuring out life as it gets thrown in her face… I really hope that you’ll come along for the ride ♡
